Test of Faith

While I am convinced there is a power greater than ourselves in this world, I find I need the patience of Job to see what possible plan there could be to kill thousands of innocent children. MSNBC had an article talking about how people keep their faith in the different religions effected by the Tsunami. I have always believed that God created the universe but the day-to-day events were up to the people and nature. Events like the Tsunami only serve to reinforce the idea that God is an absentee landlord. How could a just and engaged God let so many children die? Hard questions.

In questioning the justness of God regarding the death of "so many children", could we not question God just as much with the death of any ONE child? Of course we can, and we do.

God was a landlord in Eden, and the human race took a different path, if anything, we have become absentee renters. God remains the landlord of Heaven, where my belief tells me each of those many children have gone.

We're all going to die - one way or another. It may be tragic, it may be trivial, it may be noticed, it may be lost in the sea of disaster. As adults, we can control only two things: the legacy we choose to leave, and the afterlife we experience.
